Telmo Rodriguez has built their brand around revitalizing the forgotten and neglected facets of Spanish wine. Basa was their third label release where their goal was to present a Spanish white the world could love - which meant blending in some Sauvignon Blanc. In the 30 years since it’s inception they have improved the vineyard quality and pushed the wine towards a more proper reflection of Rueda and the Verdejo grape, so no more Sauvignon in here. Still, the fact that this was previously blended with Sauvignon Blanc gives some indication of what to expect from this wine, refreshing, high acidity, and flavours of citrus, melon, and peach. No gooseberry.
