This wine starts up front with clean acidity, and a great mix of overripe red fruits and classic Cabernet cassis notes, beneath those is a subtle minty presence. The mid palate is where it reveals it's elegance, with a gravel like minerality emerging, and gently pushing aside the fruit notes. Toasty oak comes in on the finish, which hangs around without any flabbiness. The whole time on the palate it has a feel of real weight and firmness, indicating high tannins, but they're so seamlessly integrated that you might just miss them!
A superb California Cab which I would happily drink with a lean steak now, or let age for 5-8 year to let those gravel and oak notes merry together a little more.
