Carignan is a neat grape and it is rarely seen as the majority in a blend. Carignan is all about red fruits, which show up in this bottle from faint strawberry and cranberry to juicy raspberry and cooked cherry. The grape is also known for it’s spice notes, which I attributed as cardamom in this wine. To be honest though thats a pretty out there descriptor, so take it with a grain of salt. The Syrah element hiding in the back carries a little blueberry, giving this a nice evolution on the palate. The finish is typically French, quite dry with some tannic grip.
