Albarino is definitely a top three summertime white wine for me. These crisp whites come from the west coast of Spain (or Portugal if you’re bottle says “Alvarinho”), proving once again that west coast = best coast. Yeah, I said it.
For those of you learning something other than Spanish on Duolingo that need a little help, the name of this wine translates to “Sea Drops” and that really says it all. Through the magic of terroir, these wines exhibit a smell of salty ocean breeze and seashell that make them perfectly suited to enjoy when you’re daydreaming of being on a beach. Pour yourself a very large glass of this on a hot day and sip greedily. These wines are food friendly, and especially heavenly with fish tacos or clams.
