Named for the distinctive shape of Connawarra from which this wine hails.  The distinct iron rich clay over limestone terra-rossa soils here provide aeration and drainage for the top level, while the deeper roots can seek out water and nutrients.  This combination effect gives a great balance between productivity and conentration for the vines.  That's not all that's special about Coonawarra though.  The 27 by 2 kilometer strip is surrounded by wild eucalyptus trees, the leaves of which can blow into vineyards.  Even just a handful of these leaves can introduce enough eucalyptus aroma to get onto the surface of the grapes, and into the wine, giving a distinctly unique bit of terroir influence.  But enough about soil!

Blood plum red in colour, medium to full depth in hue. The bouquet shows bright cherry, chocolate and musk aromas supported by savoury cedar oak. Vibrant with blueberries and rhubarb, the palate is balanced by chocolate and mint with the tannins having a mouth-filling, praline-like texture. A long and lingering finish.
