This wine is damn good, and not just for the price point! Romania is aligned in latitude with France, particularly Burgundy. While the soils here don’t have the same degree of geological complexity, they also don’t have the years of skyrocketing land prices. The similarity is in the climate, providing a gentle season for Pinot Noir to ripen gradually. The wine comes out with a beautifully rich colour while still showing that classic Pinot clarity. All the usual notes of red fruit, vanilla, and a hint of earth are here in good harmony, and it drinks delicately without feeling thin. It’s wild to find a wine this kind of elegance at this price point.
