Now that's a handsome label. The gold on black has a way of catching your eye from across the room. Then you see the text "single vineyard", turn it over and you'll read about 75% new oak use. It isn't hard to come to a certain level of expectation from this bottle just by looking at it. Well, it exceeded my expectations. This is a premium expression of Merlot from Osoyoos with a rich black fruit profile. Blackberries, black plum, blueberries, and black cherry are all at play here. Then comes the new oak with vanilla, cedar, and cinnamon. Tannins have softened nicely while still providing appreciable structure.
