Perricone an ancient varietal from Western Sicily. It is commonly blended with Nero d’Avola and rarely seen on its own. Although it might be changing as after almost being instinct, winemakers from Sicily are making a conscious effort to revive it. It has structured tannins, high acidity, bright fruit flavours with a spicy finish that would complement an Italian ragu and grilled vegetables.
