Minervois is a region that has been making wine as far back as the Romans and beyond. In fact, the name derives from the region's city, Minerve, which in turn takes its name from the Roman goddess Minerva. Minerva was the god of wisdom, poetry, arts and magic. As art and wisdom are synonymous with great wine, we (Unwined’s Historical Research Department) believe Minervois was in high cahoots with her work colleague Dionysus. He was in charge of the God's celestial wine store. Although not documented we are certain they are responsible for ensuring the almost limitless production of robust spicy reds that has flowed out from this land ever since its Minervoisation. This red wine is from Minervois la Liviniere, a place the benevolent duo made sure always made the best wines in the area. Rich black cherry, black plums smothered in herbs and spices. So when you are fortunate enough to have a glass of this red- raise your chalice to the ancient wisdom of a Roman Goddess and her vinous partner in crime!
